Problem
Existing
single glazed timber screens over 3 storeys. Timber badly rotting in parts, existing panels
incorporating asbestos breaking down, screens generally in very poor condition
internally. Steel opening ventilators generally in poor repair and not offering
ideal means of ventilation.
Solution
Removal
of existing timber curtain walling. Replacement curtain walling incorporating
double weatherstripped opening lights. Double glazed with sealed units
incorporating toughened and laminated glass with solar control bodytint.
Spandrel panels in insulated Trespa. The facade was fully scaffolded to
facilitate the operation which included the removal and re-positioning of
extensive science laboratory desk/benches and the disconnection and re-commissioning
of gas, water, central heating pipework and electrics. Included within the
replacement work was the provision of new parapet flashings. Partition and floor
closers along with general making good and architrave trims as required
